Erm…whats up with Travelling Wilburys, Bon Jovi, Police, Genesis, Hank Marvin, The Who & Paul McCartney all being in the top ten. Do the kids not buy music anymore????

They don’t buy albums anymore, do they? I thought they were all single track downloaders now. The album chart is down to adult buyers with more money. After all, surely you were in the stores picking up your copy of the Genesis album last week?
In other news, I see Ash have announced they won’t be releasing any more albums, concentrating on download singles in the future. Like they have a choice, but it’s an intriguing idea. Will we see more of that in the future do you think?
Commented by Andrew S. on June 21, 2007 at 7:13 amHmmm…Ash are starting to fail now though so maybe it would be less obvious as a failure if they dont release an album that doesn’t sell and instead bring out just singles.
Its pretty good PR I reckon…unlike the time they burned a pile of Westlife albums.
Commented by Becca on June 21, 2007 at 3:19 pmKids don’t pay for music. Neither do adults. How many people do you know who pay for music? hit I work in a record shop and still don’t know many people who pay for music.
Commented by bse on June 21, 2007 at 4:52 pmThat makes me sad.
Commented by Becca on June 21, 2007 at 5:38 pmI buy music! Pretty much every week, I still like the buzz of excitement I get when I go in and buy the album I’ve been waiting for or maybe I just like my material possessions too much. There will always be albums, some bands just work better with albums rather than singles.
Glad to see Era Vulgaris made it into the top 10, that album is brilliant and is an example of something that needs to be an album rather than a collection of singles
