I’m baaaaaaaaaack…
So, after a bit of a break and consideration about where to go with this blog I have decided to come back and for the most part just concentrate on my reporting of the UK charts.
I made this decision as I realised that these days the charts are mad, and nobody ever knows whats number one because frankly its kinda unimportant now. I also had the weird thing that yesterday, for maybes one of the first times in my life it came to light that i’ve never even heard of the song thats currently number one…well, this will happen no more, you can get your charts right here every week (well maybe!).
One we go…
Running this weeks position, last weeks in brackets, artist and then title.

Are the charts still relevant? Let me know your views…

Gabriella Cilmi’s song is the one from the advert where the girl is walking about upside down I think its for deodorant and the video is the one where she has the blokes all tied up.
Commented by Jen on July 8, 2008 at 11:50 amI can honestly say I don’t think I’ve heard a single track in the top 10. I’m a proper hermit now. The charts seem alright to me. Kids songs and summer songs in July, what could be more proper?
How much has that Winehouse album sold now? A quick check says it’s already into the ten million plus range. That is A LOT of album by any standard. It must be the highest selling British album for as long as I can remember. No wonder she’s mad as an apricot.
Wait, is Darren Styles that trance dude? Fuck. It really must be summer.
ONE WE GO!
Commented by beez on July 8, 2008 at 12:22 pmyeah…Darren Styles is the lame trance dude and Basshunter are more of the same as far as I know, I really dont think that stuff is restricted to summer anymore, it seems to be around all year.
Yeah that Amy Winehouse is really big business, good fact for you - thats the only album still in the chart that was in it last time the charts post.
Beez: do you even not know the Busta Rhymes?
Jen: I do know that song, its very annoying.
Commented by Becca on July 8, 2008 at 12:29 pmI know OF that Busta tune but I don’t think I’ve heard it. We should add that Winehouse fact to her Wikipedia page. Beats winning five grammys.
Commented by beez on July 8, 2008 at 12:31 pmYeah totally, thats the best Winehouse fact ever right…
In theory a Busta/Linkin tune sounds like a kinda bad idea to me.
For the record I only knew 3 of the songs in the top ten and i don’t own any of the albums.
Commented by Becca on July 8, 2008 at 1:01 pmOh, I just checked it out and i have heard that tune, is super cheese piano.
Commented by Becca on July 8, 2008 at 1:05 pmWelcome back Becca! All we need now is for beez to start posting again

Commented by beez on July 8, 2008 at 2:55 pmAny Linkin Park tune is a bad idea. Not that that has stopped it lodging firmly in my head.
